Study on the Contamination of Pathogenic Staphylococcus on the Door Knobs in Hospital

Abstract
|
|
|
Author carried out the isolation and identification of the pathogenic staphylococcus from the door knobs in Busan G. Hospital, Busan, Korea, 1973.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. Nineteen strains from inner and outer side of 51 door knobs were isolated.
2. The rate of contamination on the inner side of door knob was about 2 times more than that of outer side.
3. Identified pathogenic staphylococci were sensitive to furadantin (104 ), gentamyein (100%), and neomycin (100%), and were resistant to oxacillin (91.7%), colymycin (91.7°0), tetracycline (83.3%), streptomycin (83.3%) and penicillin (75%) mainly.
